Our HSC Model

Hope's Horizons implements what we call the "HSC" Model.

Home:  We begin with interventions within the child's home, helping to address social/relationship challenges and identifying specific goals and objectives for the individual child, both socially and developmentally.

School:  When the child has developed general social skills we then move our focus to within the child's school environment--whether it's a public school, private school, or neighborhood preschool.  Alternatively, we can help families set up a small "school" program within their home environment, utilizing neuro-typical peers from within the child's environment.

Community:  After a child is comfortable with our social/relationship expectations we help them generalize the components of their treatment program by integrating the child into community-based activities--grocery stores, libraries, and other facilities a child may visit on a frequent basis.  This enables us to focus on helping the child develop emotional competency in environments that may have previously been challenging for the child.

By implementing the model in a step-by-step, progressive manner we can gradually help a child develop social competency skills, decrease negative or social-avoidant behaviors, and increase tolerance for environmental and relationship-based stimuli.
